Stanford University Ricker Dining Hall
Role :Lead Architect
Client:Stanford Dining Enterprises
Total SF :11,400
With the need for a seismic retrofit, Ricker Hall became a wonderful opportunity for RIM’s team to provide a full remodel featuring a completely redesigned kitchen, dining, servery and study area.
RIM led a design charette with Stanford Dining and the design team to determine the program and scope elements for the project, including the design concept for the spaces and the menu as a Mediterranean Style Dining Concept. Staff efficiency, ergonomics and sustainability were key elements to the program. RIM evaluated costs for the design elements of the project, determining the project’s actual scope.
Sustainability features included high efficiency kitchen appliances, bamboo veneers, and counter tops made of recycled materials, all incorporated to reflect Stanford’s “Living Green” campaign.
