About

This 24,028 SF building was designed to replace an undersized facility that no longer served Elmendorf AFB’s training missions in Alaska. The new 1-story concrete masonry unit, and low-sloped steel roof structure meets current building standards and provides the necessary spaces that enable enhanced learning and leadership training.  The facility includes reception, heritage and display areas, auditorium, instructional seminar rooms,  conference spaces, offices, student lounges, and a variety of support spaces including a mechanical platform. The Center houses the Alaska Regional Professional Military Education and First Time Airman’s Center functions.

Site improvements include minor site and road demolition, removal of hazardous materials if required, site grading, utility connections, anti-terrorism force protection measures, development of the building access and parking, and an area to be utilized as a parade ground. While LEED certification was not required, a number of sustainable materials were incorporated throughout the design.
