RIM Architects completed executive design for the renovation and expansion of a 40 year old, 2-story commercial building into a state-of-the-art Judo Dojo and fitness center. Structural changes to the existing building included the removal of central columns on the second floor to allow for world class Judo competitions, a new foyer entry at the rear stairs, and the design of a new exterior staircase for access from the ground level to administrative offices located on the second floor.
The Dojo is plywood boxed flooring and has a two inch thick Olympic floor mat. The ground floor renovation includes space for the reception area and a fully equipped Juice Bar located between the center and executive locker rooms. The building expansion houses new management offices and exercise studios on both levels. The facility is also equipped with a backup generator.
